The University congratulates five of its alumni who have received prestigious John Monash Scholarships.

The John Monash Scholarships are awarded to postgraduates who foster leadership, expertise and international networks as well as build Australia's capabilities for the future.

The Scholarships are awarded to outstanding Australians with leadership potential who wish to study overseas.

They are amongst the highest recognised postgraduate scholarships currently available in Australia.

The winners are:

Emma Howard - 2016 Origin Foundation John Monash Scholar

Emma graduated from ANU with a Bachelor of Philosophy with First Class Honours. She is an aspiring atmospheric scientist and mathematician.

Eloise Hamilton - 2016 BHP Billiton John Monash Scholar

Eloise is currently completing her Honours year at ANU, in her Bachelor of Philosophy in Science. She is perhaps most passionate about mathematics, and wants to undertake a PhD in Mathematics in the area of algebraic geometry.

Stephen Dietz - 2016 Susan and Isaac Wakil Foundation John Monash Scholar

Stephen holds a Master of International Affairs from ANU. Through his further studies in international economic law and policy, Stephen hopes to enhance Australia's position in the areas of finance policy and trade services.

Arjuna Dibley - 2016 Woodside John Monash Scholar

Arjuna's qualifications include a Bachelor of Asian Pacific Studies and a Bachelor of Laws, both with Honours, from ANU. He plans to undertake a Masters of Law in Indonesia, focusing on climate change law and policy.

Harriet Mercer - 2016 ANZAC Centenary John Monash Scholar

Harriet graduated with First Class Honours from ANU in her Bachelor of Philosophy and was awarded the University Medal for history. She is seeking to continue her studies with a doctorate with a goal of becoming a leading Australian historian.
