Bhavani’s research addresses the perceived dichotomy between encouraging terrorism negotiations as a primary counter-terror mechanism, and opening the floodgates to every organisation holding political grievances. In so doing, her dissertation revisits and expands the Terrorism Negotiation Framework espoused in her Master’s thesis, which facilitates identification, analysis, and comparison of key variables that can influence a negotiation’s outcome.

Bhavani holds a Master of Diplomacy (Advanced) with Honours and a Master of Laws in International Law from ANU. She previously completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Asian Studies (Specialist) in Japanese from Murdoch University.
